The 12 I's of leadership shields and stoppers: a central steel shield marked with a large "I" and twelve leadership principles, surrounded by blue shields spelling out TRUST on the left and red octagonal stopper shields on the right

What are the 12 I's of Leadership?

The 12 I's of Leadership breaks leadership down into twelve principles each one a discipline you can practice, not just an idea to admire. With stoppers to keep you in check. Together, they cover how you lead yourself, your people, and the culture you leave behind. Integrity anchors the system; the other eleven build on it, one deliberate habit at a time.

What you’ll find inside the book

The 12 I's of Leadership gives you an integrated system you can put to work immediately, not a list of disconnected tips, but twelve principles built to reinforce each other. Inside, you'll find daily disciplines for building unshakeable trust, a culture-shaping approach grounded in integrity, and a legacy-minded focus that reaches far beyond your own results. The Five Stoppers round it out, naming the warning signs that quietly derail even great leaders, so you know what to watch for, not just what to build.

Who the 12 I’s of Leadership is for

Whether you're stepping into leadership for the first time or validating instincts you've built over decades, the system meets you where you are.

  • New leaders gain the confidence and clarity to lead well from day one.

  • Mid-level leaders sharpen their execution and hone their impact.

  • Senior leaders validate what's already working and learn how to scale it.

One system, three stages of leadership, all building toward the same twelve principles.

Reviews From Readers Like You

  • The 12 I's of Leadership is a timely reminder that leadership is ultimately a stewardship—of our character, our influence, and the people God has entrusted to us. Buddy Grimmett brings together practical leadership wisdom and biblical conviction in a way that challenges leaders to build on a foundation of integrity, serve others with intentionality, and pursue a legacy that extends far beyond position or performance.

  • Buddy and I became best friends during our high school years and entered the workforce near the same time, both eventually working in loss prevention at a local discount department store. When that store closed, he continued working in private sector business while I soon found my way into the U. S. Air Force. Following my enlistment, during which I was trained as a firefighter, I entered public service as a firefighter, eventually working my way up the ranks to become the fire chief for the last twenty years of my career. I wish I would have had the benefit of this outstanding guide to leadership! I believe it incorporates all of the traits and characteristics needed to become and continue as a successful leader, whether in the private business sector or in a public sector, government career. This book is a road map for transitioning from a team member to a leader of high performing organizations!
